CASTLESIDE CROFT

This secluded stone-built cottage, originally a barn, emanates the atmosphere of traditional island life, without compromising modern facilities. South-facing French windows access an enjoyable well-stocked garden that incorporates Kildonan Castle, silhouetted against a stunning sea view.

 

With private parking to the rear of the property, an entrance lobby with toilet and washing facilities opens onto a small but perfectly formed kitchen. The separate dining area accesses an extensive, comfortable lounge with a discrete space to accommodate the sofa bed.

 

A small study/bedroom is adjacent to the living area. A further double and twin bedroom is on the first floor with a family bathroom, offering a shower/bath. The twin room has an ensuit toilet and washbasin.

 

A footpath gives immediate access to seashore exploration and a sandy beach. The sounds, sights and smells of shore echo through the pretty village of Kildonan. With its hotel amenities, its excellent shop and its nature trails.

 

Kildonan, lying at the southern extremity of Arran, is reached via a minor loop road. The 6th century St. Donan is reputed to have founded a chapel at the edge of the village, which has since spread along a varied coastline interspersed with a hotel with full amenities, a village hall overlooking yellow port and a well-stocked shop near the seal walk and Bennan Head. Castle House is an ideal location to begin absorbing Kildonan’s social history and an excellent base from which to enjoy the beautiful Isle of Arran.
