It's a few hundred feet to the famous Mousetrap Inn (visited by Agatha Christie !). While many of the older cottages are often very small rooms, Barton Cottage gives good sized rooms spread over 3 floors but retains all the charm of exposed wood beams, cotswold stone walls and even a fully operational wood burner.
Description of accommodation: Barton cottage has been completely renovated to make a spacious and comfortable holiday cottage. The cottage was completely redecorated in 2008 with new facilities and furniture. The cottage comprises of an open plan ground floor with kitchen, dining area and lounge with a real woodd burner, original wooden beams and cotswold stone walls. Regularly voted one of the prettiest villages in England and the most visited in the Cotswolds, Bourton-on-the-Water has more than its share of Cotswold houses and cottages. Some of them three hundred years old, some dating back to Elizabethan times.
Bourton-on-the-Water is only 3-4 miles from Stow-on-the-Wold and straddles the river Windrush with its series of elegant low bridges and tidy stone banks. On each side of the rive are traditional Cotswolds buildings, many of which are now tourist shops for the day-trippers and visitors.
Bourton-on-the-Water has been described as the 'Little Venice' of the Cotswolds and is one of the most populare villages with an abundance of shops, cafe's, and attractions.
