Kirkby-in-Furness has 2 very nice pubs, and a village shop/post office, which sells most things, including newspapers (open 7 days a week). We have a railway station, a 12th century church and good sports facilities including bowls, tennis courts, cricket, football and a children's play area. Kirkby-in-Furness is an ideal location for exploring The Lakes, and with the Cumbria Coastal Path right on your doorstep, walking, riding, birdwatching, skydiving etc. are all readily available. Lake Windermere and Coniston Water are only 20/25 minutes away by car. Coniston is quieter but with all the facilities for boat hire, steam boat trips and teashops. Bowness-on-Windermere is much larger and livelier and has the larger cruise boats and a greater number of restaurants and shops. Major shops such as Debenhams, Etams, Marks and Spencer, River Island and a theatre (Forum 28) are only 25 minutes away at Barrow-in-Furness, as is Hollywood Park which has a 6 screen cinema, Ten Pin Bowling and Macdonalds, KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants. Ulverston is 10 minutes away by car and is a lovely drive over Kirkby Moor, which backs onto our garden. Market days are Thursday and Saturday. Here you will find a further theatre (Coronation Hall) and many welcoming pubs, cafes and restaurants. Dunnerholme Golf Course is nearby. Dalton 15 minutes away, has a leisure centre with swimming pool, sauna and a gym and is the home of the Wild Animal Park. There are many places to visit�.
