Property overview: Built in 1720 and Grade II listed, Brook Cottage retains a wealth of period features including stone mullioned windows, open fireplaces and exposed beams. The cottage also features a woodburing stove. It is nestled at the foot of a steeply wooded valley close to a brook.

Cromford lies in the valley of the River Derwent in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales and on the southern edge of the Peak District National Park. The village is surrounded by amazing scenery and is ideally situated for walkers, cyclists and those just wishing to get away from it all. The World's first successful water powered cotton mill was established here in 1771 which led to the village's designation as a World Heritage Site. Cromford also benefits from a small number of traditional shops, three pubs, a restaurant, two fish & chip shops and a Chinese take-away. Indian food can be delivered to the cottage from Matlock Bath.
Description of accommodation: The Cottage offers comfortable accommodation with quality furniture and period features. The accommodation briefly comprises: Living room with woodburning stove. Kitchen/dining room. Downstairs cloakroom. Boot room. Two good sized bedrooms (one double, one twin). Bathroom. Gas central heating throughout with hot water on demand. Rear garden with views. Prices are inclusive of all linen and towels, gas and electricity. Also included in the price is a basket of logs.
Nearby Attractions: Cromford has much to offer visitors in terms of historic interest. Sir Richard Arkwright built the World's first water powered cotton mill here which now houses a museum, a range of craft shops and a tea-room/restaurant. Just down the road from the cottage is Scarthin, with its famous bookshop and tearoom, which overlooks the village millpond and a working waterwheel.

A walk along Cromford Canal brings you to High Peak Junction where there is a further museum and the start of the High Peak Trail, popular with walkers and cyclists. There are varied and interesting walks from the cottage through protected woodland and meadows and along waterways.

Cromford offers a good range of local amenities, including an excellent general store, newsagent, butcher, chemist, post office, pubs, tearooms, take-aways and a restaurant.

The Victorian spa town of Matlock Bath, less than two miles from Cromford, boasts many tourist attractions, including the Heights of Abraham with its cable car ride and hilltop caverns, Gullivers Kingdom, a lead mining museum, an aquarium and numerous shops, restaurants and take-aways.

There is a wealth of activities available in the Peak District National Park, many of which are just a short drive from the cottage.

Close by is Crich Tramway Museum, the fine historic houses of Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and Tissington Hall. Water sports are available at Carsington Water and on the River Derwent. There are many beautiful dale walks close by including famous Dovedale. Excellent cycling is available on the High Peak, Tissington and Monsal Trails.

Further to the north there are fascinating caves to visit near Buxton and Castleton as well as the intriguing "plague village" of Eyam.

Alton Towers is less than a half hour drive from the cottage.
