Property overview: Spring Cottage is a traditional stone walled cottage in the Dartmoor National Park. It sleeps up to 5 and is perfect for families. Dogs are welcome! (There will be a small charge of £20 per week or £30 for 2 dogs) Please let us know and we'll have a bed ready, bring your own blanket/bowls/toys. Description of accommodation: The accommodation consists of one twin bedded room with ensuite shower and wc, and a large family room which has a double bed and a single bed, this room has an ensuite bathroom. All bed linen and towels are provided. The kitchen is fully equipped with cooker, fridge-freezer, microwave, toaster, washing machine etc.
We have now swapped the dining table and chairs into the living room and have placed a comfy sofa and chair into the former dining room in order to make it into a snug sitting room where the Woodburner can be more appreciated. Logs are provided. The living room has a TV with Freeview and a DVD player and there is an electric woodburner style heater.
Nearby Attractions: Tavistock is the nearest town and it’s indoor Pannier Market and varied speciality and local shops offer a great day out shopping. There are plenty of cafés, restaurants and pubs, and a farmers’ market every fortnight. Rich in history, the town developed around the Abbey founded in 974, and later grew with the 19th century copper boom. 900 years ago, Tavistock was granted a charter for a Friday market by Henry I - and Friday markets continue to this day! Find out more at the Town Museum. Tavistock was the birthplace of the great 16th century mariner,Sir Francis Drake. Today you can follow Drake's Walk through the Meadows and along the19th century canal or the Viaduct Walk on the former rail line high above the town. Meadowlands Park houses an indoor swimming pool and the nearby Wharf presents cinema, music and drama.There is car parking throughout the town, and regular bus links from Plymouth and the surrounding area. Tavistock also lies on the Devon Coast to Coast Cycle route and the West Devon Way.Walkers will love the beauty of Dartmoor where there is much to explore. Lydford Gorge is only a few miles away, other places to visit are Morwellham Quay, Castle Drogo, Buckfast Abbey, Dingles Steam Village, Okehampton Castle...........there are so many that it would be impossible to list them all here.
