Property overview: Sunset Cottage is situated in a beautiful rural setting at Friars Ground, in an elevated position overlooking the village of Kirkby-in-Furness. There are wonderful views out to sea, looking over Blackcombe and the mountains beyond. This two or three bedroom spacious cottage is the east wing of the owners fully restored 17th century farmhouse and is in a very peaceful setting. It has many original features includig an inglenook fireplace with a logburning stove, oak beams, flagstone floor, and oak panelling. The cottage has been restored to a high standard with all modern facilities and still keeps its full character. It is fully centrally heated and there is no additional charges for the oil or electricity. There is a large south-facing garden laid mainly to lawn and garden furniture is supplied for you to sit in and enjoy the extensive views.  It is a non-smoking cottage.
Description of accommodation: The front door leads to a fully fitted oak Kitchen with solid beech worktops & it has the original flagstone floor. There is a fully integrated fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer, electric hob and oven and is fully equipped with microwave, fridge, toaster, and kettle. Stone steps lead down to a cellar where the Dyson vacuum cleaner, iron, ironing board and a wine rack are stored. There is a wide range of cutlery, crockery, saucepans and glasses provided.The Sitting Room has beautifully exposed oak beams and is a lovely room to relax in. This is a large room with an inglenook fireplace with a log burning stove for which logs are provided. It is fully carpeted and has a 3 piece suite, dining table and chairs, colour TV, video and DVD player.  A selection of videos and DVDs are provided. There is a window seat with views over the fully enclosed south facing garden, and moorland beyond.The hallway has the original oak panelling, beams, a leaded stained glass window and a coat stand.  It leads through a stable door to the garden. The large south facing garden laid mainly to lawn and is fully enclosed.  There is a patio area and garden furniture is supplied. The stairs to first floor lead to a large landing with exposed oak beams. The large bathroom is half tiled in burgundy and white with a full Victorian style white suite with gold taps.  It includes a bath and a separate walk-in fully tiled,  power shower. The double Bedroom has a double bed (all bed linen and towels are provided), mahogany double mirrored wardrobe, dressing table and chest of drawers, bedside tables and lamps. A black leaded fireplace and beams are nice features in this room.  The floorboards are the original pine stripped floorboards with rugs. The bedroom window overlooks the garden and moorland and sea beyond.The twin Bedroom has twin beds, a double mirrored wardrobe, set of drawers, bedside table and light. The original oak beams, and a view over the garden, moorland, and out to sea, make this a very pleasant room.There is a third bedroom with twin beds, double antique pine wardrobe, two sets of drawers, bedside table and light is available by arrangement. A black leaded fireplace and original oak beams give this room lots of character. See tariff for details of charges.
Nearby Attractions: KIRKBY-in-FURNESS is a small coastal village on the Duddon Estuary just a short distance away from the old market town of Ulverston and not far from Broughton-in-Furness. Kirkby-in-Furness has two pubs, and a village shop/post office, which sells most things, including newspapers and is open 7 days a week. There is a railway station with connections to Barrow-in-Furness and Carlisle, a 12th century church and good sports facilities including bowls, tennis courts, cricket, football and a children’s play area. Kirkby-in-Furness is an ideal location for exploring The Lakes, and with the Cumbria Coastal Path right on your doorstep, walking, riding, birdwatching, skydiving etc. and the Ale Trail are all readily accessible. Lake Windermere and Coniston Water are only 20/25 minute drive away. Coniston has all the facilities for boat hire, steam boat trips and teashops. Bowness-on-Windermere is  larger and livelier and has the larger cruise boats and a greater number of restaurants and shops.Major shops such as Debenhams, Next, Marks and Spencer, River Island and a theatre (Forum 28) are a 20 minutes drive away at Barrow-in-Furness. There is also a 6 screen cinema, Ten Pin Bowling. Ulverston is a 10/15 minute drive away  - a lovely drive over Kirkby Moor, which backs onto our garden. Market days are Thursdays and Saturdays and you will also find a further theatre (Coronation Hall) and many welcoming pubs, cafes and restaurants. Dunnerholme Golf Course is a short drive away.Dalton-in-Furness is the home of the Wild Animal Park and is a 15 minute drive away.  It also has a leisure centre with swimming pool, sauna and a gym.As well as the Dalton Wild Animal Park there are many places to visit such as the Aquarium of the Lakes, Laurel and Hardy Museum, Haverthwaite Steam Railway, Ravenglass Railway, Muncaster Castle, Coniston and Windermere Lake Cruises, 13th Century Furness Abbey, Dock Museum, Holker Hall and Gardens (including Donald Campbell Bluebird Exhibition), Beatrix Potter Museum, and many many more……….
