Property overview: 1800's cottage with views of the sea and countryside. Originally built for the Coastguard, now provides cosy self catering holiday accommodation for up to 4 people. Dogs welcome.Stands in a row of seven and is situated on a cliff and is reached by a (resurfaced) farm track by car. Parking for 2 cars (one outside the door). The Cleveland Way footpath passes 50 yards from the cottage and follows the cliff top. One direction leads down to the beach where there are rockpools to explore and 8 miles of sandy beach. There is also a beachside pub serving good food here. A comment often put in the visitor's book is that this is the best location for a holiday cottage in Saltburn.  Description of accommodation: The cottage was refurbished in 2007 but retains it's character features. There is an original cast iron range in the kitchen and stripped pine doors.The two bedrooms sleep up to four in a double and a twin room. The bathroom has an electric shower over the double ended roll top bath. Heating is provided by a new multi fuel burning stove in the lounge, which also heats the water. There is an electric immersion for use in the summer.The lounge faces south and has a French door. Slightly offset is a fenced garden with a summerhouse.There are two parking spaces. Smoking is not permitted in the cottage. Nearby Attractions: Saltburn-by-the-sea is an attractive Victorian town which was built as a seaside resort. There is a good range of shops, train station, pubs, restaurants and a library.There is a water balanced cliff lift from the town to the promenade, beach  and pier. There are opportunities to surf or ride horses on the beach.Children will like to ride on a miniature railway which operates during the summer.Saltburn has an interesting smuggling history and there is a museum dedicated to it housed in a former fisherman's cottage on the seafront.The picturesque fishing villages of Staithes, Runswick Bay and Whitby are a short drive away.
