Within easy reach of Tintern Abbey, Symonds Yat and the Wye valley, S. and mid-Wales. Ideal base for exploring forest either on foot, bike, horseback or car.
Description of accommodation: Extremely comfortable cottage with 5 double bedrooms (4 double beds, 1 twin-bedded room). 2 bathrooms - 1 ensuite. 3 WCs. Huge living room with piano, TV, DVD. Games room/dining room with table tennis table and large selection of board-games. Well-equipped kitchen and adjoining breakfast-room with extensive range of crockery and cooking utensils. Double oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and separate fridge-freezer, coffee-maker, toaster. Utility room with washer-dryer. Beautiful garden with fruit trees, lawns and flower beds. Patio and outdoor dining area. Garden furniture and BBQ. All bed linen, towels, utilities inclusive. Please note that the cottage is a no-smoking environment and that we are unable to take pets. Nearby Attractions: The cottage is situated in the Forest of Dean which offers a wealth of outdoor activities including mountain-biking (family trail with cycle hire 2 miles away), canoeing and kayaking on the river Wye (Symonds Yat 4 miles away), a high wire forest adventure course at 'Go Ape' (2 miles), horse-riding, as well as an extensive network of forest trails. The area abounds in wild-life; highlights include peregrine falcons, goshawks, deer and wild boar. Clearwell caves are within easy reach as are the atmospheric ruins of Tintern Abbey. A steam railway operates from Parkend, about 1.5 miles walk through the forest from the house. The nearest pub and shop are about 1/4 mile away. Chepstow and Gloucester are within 30 minutes' drive, while Bristol can be reached within 45 mins-1hr. The nearest main-line railway station is in Lydney, approx 3 miles away. Further afield, the attractions of S. Wales are within easy reach (Brecon Beacons National Park is about 1 hour's drive away).
Pricing Structure: Prices range from £500 per week in low season to £950 in high season (which includes late July-August and the Christmas and New year periods. Part weeks are negotiable. A 20% deposit is payable at the time of booking, with the balance payable 4 weeks prior to the holiday.
